How to Share Windows 8.1 SkyDrive Folders

Although you need a Microsoft account to create and use your Windows 8.1 SkyDrive folders, you can share folders with people who don’t have Microsoft accounts. People who share your SkyDrive folders only need an e-mail address.

If you want to share a SkyDrive folder with someone, follow these steps:

1

Open File Explorer and select the SkyDrive folder you wish to share.

Sharing files using SkyDrive enables you to share files that are too large to e-mail.

2

Choose to share the folder with SkyDrive.

Right-click the folder and choose Share With, SkyDrive.

3

Enter the e-mail address of the person who will share your folder.

In the To box, enter the e-mail address of the person with whom you’d like to share the SkyDrive folder.

Optionally, you can include a personal message to the recipient.

Choose whether recipients can edit the contents of the folder.

Decide whether people need to sign in in order to access the folder.

When you are finished, tap (or click) Share to send the link and share the folder.
