How to Move Tile Groups on the Windows 8.1 Start Screen

You can probably appreciate that you can arrange the tiles on your Windows 8.1 Start screen into groups. Tile groups also exist in Windows 8, but Windows 8.1 makes working with those groups much easier.

After you’ve created several tile groups, you’ll probably find that their layout isn’t exactly ideal. You might want to move a group that you use often so that you don’t have to scroll to find it. Or, if you have a group you seldom use, you might feel like storing it where it’s out of the way.

Here’s how you can move your tile groups:

Pinch your fingers together to zoom out.

If you’re using a mouse, click the Zoom icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

Drag the groups around to rearrange them.

You can drag the tile groups to any new location you desire.

Stretch your fingers apart to zoom in (or click the Zoom icon) to finish.

Your tile groups now appear using your new arrangement.
