How to Find the Backup Program in Windows Vista
To back up the files on your PC, you can simply copy the files from the hard drive to removable media. However, it is far simpler to run a backup program. Windows Vista has two locations for its backup operations: the Backup Status and Configuration window and the Backup and Restore Center.
Backup and Restore Center: Open the Control Panel’s Backup and Restore Center icon to view the Backup and Restore Center window. The window lists information about recent backups and allows you to back up your computer or restore files.
Backup Status and Configuration: To open the Backup Status and Configuration window, from the Start button menu, choose All Programs→Accessories→System Tools→Backup Status and Configuration.
Two or three large buttons are on the left side of the Backup Status and Configuration window. The top button, labeled Backup, causes backup options to appear in the window. The second button is Restore, which deals with restoring files to your computer from a backup.
You can quickly jump from the Backup and Restore Center to the Backup Status and Configuration window by clicking the Change Settings link beneath the Back Up Files button.
Windows Vista also features, in the notification area, an itsy-bitsy icon that appears whenever a backup is overdue.
