How to Create a Facebook Page

Before you can conduct any sort of Facebook marketing campaign, you have to have a Facebook page associated with your company and/or product. To create a Facebook page, do the following:

Select the correct Page type, the one that most closely represents your business.

See the available types here. Keep in mind that a "Local Place of Business" allows your business to appear on mobile devices for Facebook users who are physically near your location. This type is best used for businesses like restaurants, museums, retail stores, and so on.

Select the right category and address for your Page.

The more accurately you categorize your Page, the more likely it will appear in Facebook search.

Add subcategories, a description, and a website for your business.

When selecting subcategories and writing your description, use terms your customers use. Keep the description short, simple, and search friendly. (Your Facebook Page description is the meta description that appears in search results.)

Upload a profile picture (200 px square).

Again, keep this simple yet attractive. Your profile picture is the image people will see the most.

Upload a cover image (851px by 315px).

Make sure that less than 20% of the image comprises text.

Add milestones and photos.

Keep your page updated as your business grows and expands. Even if nothing major is happening, make sure that you are frequently posting updates and photos to keep your viewers (and customers) coming back.
