lateral: In clinical anatomy, away from the body’s midline. For example, the little toe is lateral to the big toe.

lateral epicondyle: A bony prominence located proximal to the lateral condyle.

lateral rotation: To move a body part around its long axis with the anterior surface moving away from the midline, like turning your whole lower extremity so your foot points out toward the side.
