For Dummies Annual Library Display Contest
The For Dummies Library Display Contest is an annual contest that offers participating libraries, an opportunity to showcase their collection of For Dummies titles. The reward is increased circulation of books in this popular series and the opportunity to win For Dummies books for the library's collection, a trophy, a pizza party for library staff, and a selection of Dummies branded promotional items such as mugs, book totes, and t-shirts.
To participate, libraries build a yellow and black (the brand's signature colors) Dummies branded display anytime between late January and March 31. Entrants can request a Dummies Display Kit that includes a display piece, a tip sheet, and a selection of Dummies graphics.
The 2007 contest had a total of 45 entries from public, college and university, middle and high school, and corporate libraries from across the country. "The number and quality of the displays continues to amaze me" states David Hobson a Marketing Coordinator for the Dummies brand who has managed the contest since its inception in 2005. "Each year selecting the winning entries becomes increasingly difficult."
Entries are judged on visual appeal, originality and creativity, and the use and accessibility of Dummies books in the display.
