Transitioning from a Mac or PC to your new Chromebook requires you to migrate your files to Google Drive. Use Google Drive for your file storage so that you can quickly access those files on your Chromebook anywhere you have an Internet connection.
Upload files to Google Drive
There are a few different ways you can upload files to your Google Drive. Follow these steps to upload your files from your Chromebook using the Drive web interface:
Click the App Launcher icon in the bottom-left corner of your screen.
The App Launcher opens.
Locate and click the Google Drive icon.
A Chrome web browser window opens, displaying your Google Drive.
Click the Upload button on the left of the screen.
The Upload button is located next to the Create button.
A pop-up menu appears, giving you the ability to select files for upload.
If you are uploading only a few files in the same directory, select file upload. However, if you’re uploading a whole directory, select folder upload.
Navigate to your external device and select the files you would like to upload to Drive, and then click Open.
Drive begins uploading the files immediately.
Upload files to Google Drive from a Mac or PC
If you are transitioning to a Chromebook from a Mac or PC, you can migrate your files to Google Drive by following these steps:
Launch your desired web browser on your Mac or PC.
In the navigation bar, enter the following URL and hit Enter: https://drive.google.com.
Google Drive’s website loads.
Log in using your Google username and password.
You will be taken to your Google Drive.
Click the Upload button on the left side of the screen.
The Upload button is located next to the Create button.
A pop-up menu appears, giving you the ability to select files for upload.
Select the files you would like to upload to Drive, and then click Open.
Drive begins uploading the files immediately.
