“The Articulate Blues” is a short guitar solo, in the form of a 12-bar blues, that employs all the forms of articulation. Learning how to play "The Articulate Blues" on guitar will give you a chance to practice and demonstrate your mastery of single notes, chords, and riffs. It’s an integrated style of playing that real-life guitarists use. Looking at the song’s notation, you see slides, pull-offs, bends, vibratos, and a hammer-on. The tab doesn’t indicate any muting, but you can use that technique any time that you want to avoid unwanted noises; in measure 5, for example, you can lean your left thumb lightly against the 6th string to prevent it from ringing while you play the A7 chord.
