Starting a new group on Ning is one of the coolest things you can do in a Ning network. If the network is set up to allow you to create groups, just follow these steps:

Log in to your social network.

Your home page appears.

Click the Groups tab in the top navigation bar.

The Groups main page appears.

Click the Add a Group link at the top-right of the Groups page.

The Add a Group page opens.

Enter the required Group Information in the appropriate text boxes.

You need to give your group a Name and Group Address (meaning the group's main URL).

Include an image to go along with your new group.

Ning requires that you add an image; try to find an image that relates to the topic of the group.

Include any optional information that you want to.

You can input a Description, Website (which means a page outside Ning), and Location (which you use if your group is based in some geographical area).

Select the features that you want to add to the group.

You can include Comments, Discussion Forum, Text Box (which lets you include a text box below the group information, allowing you to include more details, images, videos, and so on), and RSS Reader.

Select the appropriate Privacy option.

Anyone gives anybody in the network the ability to join the group at will. Moderated Membership makes the group membership a moderated process, giving you more control over who joins.

Select Messages if you want members to be able to send messages to the entire group.

This setting gives the group some of the functionality of a mailing list.

Click Add Group.

A confirmation message appears.

Invite other members to join the group.

If you prefer, you can choose to invite members later by clicking the Skip link.
