Droid Bionic: Tether the Internet Connection
A more intimate way to share the Droid Bionic’s digital cellular connection is to connect the phone directly to a computer and activate the tethering feature. This is a solid way to provide Internet access to another gizmo, such as a laptop or desktop computer. Follow these steps to set up Internet tethering on your Droid Bionic:
Connect the phone to another device by using the USB cable.
On the Droid Bionic, at the Home screen, press the Menu soft button.
Choose Settings and then choose Wireless & Networks.
Choose Tethering & Mobile Hotspot.
Place a green check mark by the item USB Tethering.
Internet tethering is activated.
The other device should instantly recognize the Droid Bionic’s network access. Further configuration may be required, which depends on the device using the tethered connection. For example, you may be prompted on the PC to locate and install software for the Droid Bionic. Accept the installation of new software when prompted by Windows.
When tethering is active on the Droid Bionic, the Tethering notification icon appears. The icon looks nearly the same as the standard USB Connection icon, but it’s green.
There's no need to disable the Wi-Fi radio to activate USB tethering on the Droid Bionic.
Sharing the digital network connection incurs data usage charges against your cellular data plan. Be careful with your data usage when you’re sharing a connection.
