What You Can Do with Your Apple Mobile Klout Profile

By Andrea Updyke

Next to the Notifications button at the bottom of the screen on your Apple device, you see a Klout Profile icon. Tapping this button takes you to your personal Profile screen.

From this screen, you can view your topics, influencers, and people you influence and make simple edits to your profile information. You can also connect with certain social networks from the mobile app. However, at this time the option to disconnect from these networks is available only by using the full online version.

The Klout Profile screen also includes access to the Settings screen, from which you can set up Push Notifications (notifications that pop up in real time on your home screen even when the app isn’t open), pin your Score to your home screen, log out, and send feedback to the Klout staff.

How to update your profile with the Klout app

You can make minor edits from your mobile profile such as updating your bio, removing topics, and adding social networks. However, at this time you are not able to change your profile picture or add topics via the mobile app.

If you wish to change your bio, the process is simple:

  1. Open the Klout app, and then open your profile by tapping the Profile button at the bottom-right of your screen.

  2. Tap the Edit button in the upper-right corner of your profile.

The area around your bio turns from gray to white.

  3. Tap the white screen where your bio is located and make changes as desired.

  4. To save your new bio, tap the Done button in the upper-right corner of the screen.

You may also wish to remove certain topics or influencers from your profile. You can do that from the mobile app as well.

To remove items from your Klout profile

  1. Open the Klout app and open your profile by tapping the Profile button at the bottom-right of your screen.

  2. Tap the Edit button in the upper-right corner of your profile.

Small black circles containing white xs appear above your Klout connections and topics.

  3. To remove a contact or topic, tap the corresponding x above that item.

    A confirmation warning appears.

  4. If you’re sure you want to delete this person or topic from your profile, tap the red Delete button.

Or you can tap Cancel if you wish to end this process without making any changes.

  5. When you’re done making edits, tap the Done button in the upper-right corner of your screen.

How to add a social network

Klout offers the ability to connect with your other social networks (including Facebook, Twitter, and foursquare) via its mobile app. The social networks you can connect are limited in the mobile app, but a handful is available to get you started.

To find out if the app has an available social network that you haven’t yet connected, view the network icons at the top of your Profile screen. A network that’s already connected has an icon in full color. A network that hasn’t yet been connected is faded and also has a plus (+) sign in the upper-right corner.

To add a social network to your Klout mobile profile

  1. Open the Klout app and open your profile by tapping the Profile button at the bottom-right of your screen.

  2. Use your finger to slide the social network icons until you find the one you wish to add.

  3. Select the social network you wish to add by tapping the icon with the plus sign.

  4. Log in to the social network (if necessary).

After you log in, grant access or allow Klout to connect with your social network.

You are now connected, and the social network icon is in full color on your mobile app.

You may remove any of your connected networks by logging in to the full website at Klout.com.

How to display your Klout Score on your home screen

Your Klout Score is updated on a daily basis. You can choose to be alerted of these changes in real time in two ways. You can turn on Push Notifications that alert you to Score changes with a pop-up message on your phone. Or you can choose to display your Klout Score on your home screen.

If you choose the latter, your Score will always be displayed in a small red box above your Klout app icon.

To turn on Push Notifications and/or display your Score in your home screen

  1. Open the Klout App.

  2. Tap the Profile icon in the bottom-right corner of your screen.

  3. Tap the gear icon in the upper-left corner to open your app’s settings page.

The Klout Settings screen also contains a few important documents at a glance. You can view Klout’s terms of service and privacy policy or send an e-mail with feedback by tapping one of the buttons at the bottom of the Settings screen.

If you wish to log out of your Klout app, you can do it from the Settings screen. To do so, simply tap the Logout button.
