How to Manage Shipping on Your Website via Squarespace

By Kris Black

When you sell physical products in your store, those products must be shipped to your customers. With Squarespace, you can create and configure multiple shipping methods in Site Manager→Commerce→Shipping.

To add a shipping method to your store, do the following:

  1. On the Shipping screen, click the Add Shipping Method button.

The Add Shipping Option dialog box appears.

  2. Choose a shipping option:

    • Flat Rate: Set a flat fee for each item in the order.

    • Depending on Weight: Determine shipping costs by the total weight of all the items in the order.

After choosing your shipping option, an edit dialog box appears for you to configure.

  3. Enter a description in the Option Name field.

Use a name that includes the carrier (UPS, FedEx, USPS, and so on) and the method (First Class, Next Day Air, 3-5 Day Delivery, and so on). For example, if you’re setting up a shipping option for Priority Mail through the United States Post Office, you might name the shipping option USPS — Priority Mail.

  4. Set your shipping cost formula.

If you chose the Flat Fee option, fill in the following fields:

    • Per order fee: The flat fee applied to an order.

    • Fee per item: The cost applied for each item added to an order.

If you chose the Depending on Weight option, you can modify the following criteria in the Weight Ranges area:

    • Weight: Change the ending weight, if desired. The weight you set here causes the beginning rate of the next range to be 0.01 pounds higher.

    • Cost: Determine the cost of the weight ranges based on the shipping method and carrier you will be using.

The last weight range ends in infinity, so you can set a maximum shipping charge for orders that reach a certain weight and beyond. To add a new weight range, click the plus button below the last range. The new weight range is added between the last two ranges.

  5. Click the Country Restriction link and configure the following settings to control where your shipping option is available:

    • Ship to Rest of the World: Use this setting to make the shipping option you’re creating available to the rest of the world.

    • Countries Allowed: Set the countries where this shipping option is available. Click in the Countries Allowed field to reveal the Add Countries pop-up box. Begin typing the country you want to add, and then select the country that appears. To remove a country in the list, hover your cursor over the country and click the x that appears next to the country name.

  6. Save your shipping option by clicking the Save button.

Your new shipping option is saved to the Shipping area of Commerce.

If you need to add more shipping options, click the Add Shipping Method button and repeat the preceding steps.
