How to Transfer Money between Bank Accounts with QuickBooks 2010
QuickBooks 2010’s Banking menu supplies a useful command for transferring money between bank accounts, named (unsurprisingly) Transfer Funds. This command opens a dialog box that allows you transfer money between accounts.
1Choose Banking→Transfer Funds.
QuickBooks displays the Transfer Funds Between Accounts window.
2In the Date field, identify the transfer date.
You can enter the date in mm/dd/yyyy format, or you can click the small calendar button that appears to the right of the Date field. When QuickBooks displays the calendar, click the day that corresponds to the date you want to enter into the Date field.
3From the Transfer Funds From drop-down list, select the bank account from which you’re moving funds.
Alternatively, you can enter the bank account name into the text box. QuickBooks supplies a figure in the Account Balance field to the right of the drop-down list.
4From the Transfer Funds To drop-down list, select the bank account that receives the transferred funds.
The Transfer Funds To box works like the Transfer Funds From box (and the balance for this account also appears in the Account Balance field to the right of the drop-down list).
5In the Transfer Amount text box, enter the amount of the transfer.
For example, if you transfer $100 from your checking to your savings account, the transfer amount is $100.
6(Optional) Provide a memo description for the transfer transaction in the Memo text box.
If you want (and this is no big deal), you can use the Memo text box to provide some brief description of the funds transfer.
7Click either the Save & Close or the Save & New button to save your transfer transaction.
Alternatively, if you don’t want to save the transfer transaction, click the Clear button.
