How to Add a Flickr Buddy Icon

By Janine Warner, David LaFontaine

Whether you’re creating a Flickr profile for the first time or you haven’t updated your profile in a while, the first thing you should do is choose a photo to serve as your buddy icon.

The buddy icon appears at the lower-left corner of the cover image. The buddy icon is visible when you view your photostream as well as when you view Flickr with the image sets selected.

To upload your buddy icon, log in to your account and click the You link. Then click the initial placeholder or your existing buddy icon.

If Flickr believes your existing buddy icon is too small, rolling your cursor over the icon reveals the message Upload a bigger, better photo. Please. If your existing buddy icon is the correct size, the message reads Change your Buddy Icon.

When the Your Account/Your Buddy Icon page opens, you have two options from where to select your buddy icon image: your hard drive or your Flickr photos.
