Using Your Digital Camera’s Fill Flash to Light a Photo
When you set your digital camera to fill flash (also called forced flash), the flash always goes off, regardless of the amount of light in the scene. Fill-flash mode is especially helpful for outdoor shots:
1Take a photo with the automatic flash setting first.
If you like how the picture looks, you don’t need to bother with changing the flash. But you may need more control over the light in your shot. Because the picture was taken on a sunny day, the camera didn’t see the need for a flash. But the hat’s shadow hides the subject’s eyes.
2Change your camera’s flash setting to fill flash.
Check your camera’s manual for details on your particular camera’s menu.
