eBay PowerSellers have to maintain certain monthly levels of gross merchandise sales (total dollar amount of eBay sales — GMS in eBay-speak), and they get there by providing good items for sale and excellent customer service. A PowerSeller has the PowerSeller icon on his My eBay and Accounts pages.

To become a PowerSeller on eBay, you must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Be an active eBay member for at least 90 days.

  • Rack up a minimum of $1,000 in sales or 100 items per month, for 3 consecutive months; OR an averaged minimum of 100 items sold on the site per month for the past 3 months.

  • Meet the following average minimum sales requirements:

    • 3-month requirement: A minimum of $1,000 in sales or 100 items per month, for three consecutive months.

    • Annual requirement: A minimum of $12,000 or 1,200 items for the prior 12 months.

  • Achieve the following minimum average of items sold:

    • 3-month requirement: 2 items sold per month for the past 3 months (6 items).

    • Annual requirement: 2 items sold per month for the past 12 months (24 items).

  • Have a minimum overall feedback rating of 100.

  • Maintain at least a 98 feedback percentage.

  • Keep your eBay account current.

  • Comply with all eBay policies.

  • Maintain a rating of 4.5 or higher for the past 12 months in all four Detailed Seller Ratings (DSRs). (Top-rated sellers must maintain a 4.6 or higher).

eBay sends you a notification when you qualify for PowerSeller status. If you feel you have qualified and may have accidentally deleted the e-mail, find the PowerSeller’s page from the Site Map link and attempt to log in with your regular user ID and password.

Being a PowerSeller gives you membership in an exclusive club. That club has five levels of membership, depending on your monthly sales (see the table). Each PowerSeller tier gives the seller more privileges from eBay. One of the most valuable benefits is that when an issue needs to be addressed with eBay, PowerSellers can access priority customer-service support.
