When you are just starting out as a newbee (new-bee . . . get it?), you may try and read whatever you can find on the subject of beekeeping. But no matter how many times you read and re-read the how-to’s printed on the pages, there is nothing more helpful than actually watching an experienced beekeeper hive a package of live bees, light a smoker and use it, or build frames with foundation. The ol’ adage that a picture is worth a thousand words was never truer! And so, you can take a look at some helpful video clips that show these very activities. These are the topics that seem to be particularly tricky for anyone first starting out in this wonderful hobby. So read the text on these topics; then be sure to watch the corresponding beekeeping videos to see how to handle these basic tasks.
