Question, the Other TI-Nspire Application

By Jeff McCalla, Steve Ouellette

The Question application for the TI-Nspire is important if you are teaching in a classroom. The Question application is not an available choice if you add a page — it can be accessed only from the Insert drop-down menu. Using the Question application, questions can be embedded in your TI-Nspire document. The Question application is available only in TI-Nspire Teacher Software.

Even if you are just starting to find out how to use TI-Nspire, inserting questions into documents is an easy thing to do. You may be surprised to see all the different question types that are available. Choosing Insert→Question opens the Choose Question Type dialog box. Each time you use your mouse to click an option, a brief description and a small template appear near the bottom of the dialog box.

You find four main categories: Multiple Choice (7 options), Open Response (2 options), Equations (2 options), and Coordinate Points & Lists (3 options). That is a total of 14 different types of questions that can be inserted into a TI-Nspire document.

If you look closely at the following image, you will notice four different pages of questions that are listed on the same screen in TI-Nspire Teacher Software. To accomplish this, chose Window→Show Document in Tabs. Each question came from a different document and is shown in a thumbnail view.
