Tips for Using Your Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 NOOK’s Keyboard

By Corey Sandler

The following figure shows the Samsung keyboard, which is more of a traditional, typewriter-like keyboard. Keep these tips in mind when using the keyboard in your Galaxy Tab 4 NOOK:

  • How do you hide the keyboard? It depends. Try tapping the Enter/Return or Done key. Press the Back (arrow) key at the bottom of the screen.

  • To shift into uppercase characters, tap the up arrow at the left or right side of the keyboard. The first letter of the next word you tap will be in uppercase, and the next will be lowercase letters.

  • To type in all caps, press and hold the up arrow on the keyboard. Tap one or the other arrow to turn off caps lock.

  • To type an accented character, press and hold on a letter. Slide your finger onto the special character and release it when the one you want is highlighted. The following figure shows examples of accented characters in their lowercase and uppercase versions.

  • To insert a symbol, tap the Sym key. Here, you can see some of the available symbol keyboards.

  • To insert an emoji (also known as an emoticon), press and hold the Settings (gear) icon to the left of the spacebar. Tap the happy face to display emojis like those shown.
