iPad 4G or mini: Organize and Read E-Mail by Threads

If you have a fourth-generation iPad or an iPad mini and tend to have long e-mail discussions, you can use threads to organize and read your messages. The iPad Mail app enables you to view e-mail messages two ways: as a simple list or grouped into threads (or conversations). When you view a thread, your e-mail message appears with all its related messages.

To set Mail to organize your messages by thread, follow these steps:

  1. Press the Home button.

    The Home screen appears.

  2. Tap Settings.

The Mail, Contacts, Calendars screen appears.

  4. Tap the Organize By Thread switch and move it to the On position.

Threaded messaging will now group your e-mails.

When all of your e-mail messages are organized into threads, you can navigate your Inbox quickly and see your various conversations. If you’re looking for a specific e-mail message, then locating it is pretty easy.

To read messages that are organized into threads, follow these steps:

  1. Press the Home button.

    The Home screen appears.

  2. Tap Mail.

    The Mailboxes screen appears.

  3. Tap the mailbox.

The Inbox for the account appears. A number on the right (see A in the image) indicates a threaded message.
