How to Forward Calls on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3
Call forwarding is the process by which you reroute an incoming call on your Samsung Galaxy Note 3. For example, you can send to your office all calls you receive while you’re on vacation. Then you have the luxury of having your cell phone and still making calls but freely ignoring anyone who calls you.
The options for call forwarding on your Galaxy Note are set by using either the Android operating system itself or the controls set up by your cellular provider.
Call forwarding may affect your phone’s voice mail service.
How to forward calls with Android settings on your Samsung Galaxy Note 3
To review the various call forwarding options available on the phone, heed these steps:
At the Home screen, press the Menu button.
Choose Settings to launch the Settings app.
On the Device tab in the Settings app, choose the Call item.
Choose Additional Settings.
Choose Call Forwarding and then Voice Call.
If this option isn’t available, you must use your carrier’s forwarding settings. Otherwise, you can select one of these four forwarding options:
Always Forward: All incoming calls are sent to the number you specify; your phone doesn’t even ring. This option overrides all other forwarding options.
Forward When Busy: Calls are forwarded when you’re on the phone and choose not to answer. This option is normally used to send a missed call to voice mail, although you can forward to any number.
Forward When Unanswered: Calls are forwarded when you choose not to answer the phone. Normally, the call is forwarded to your voice mail.
Forward When Unreachable: Calls are forwarded when the phone is turned off or out of range or in Airplane mode. As with the two preceding settings, this option normally forwards calls to voice mail.
Choose an option.
Set the forwarding number.
Or you can edit the number that already appears. For example, you can type your home number for the Forward When Unreached option so that your cell calls are redirected to your home when you’re out of range.
Touch the Turn On or Update button to confirm the forwarding number.
The Call Forwarding status icon appears atop the touchscreen when you’ve activated a forwarding option.
To disable call forwarding, touch the Turn Off button when you’re given the opportunity to type a forwarded phone number. (See Step 7 in the preceding list.)
Call forwarding affects Google Voice voice mail. Unanswered calls that you forward are handled by the forwarding number, not by Google Voice. Further, when you cancel call forwarding, you need to reenable Google Voice on your phone.
How to forward calls on your Samsung Galaxy Note 3 on the Verizon network
When your Galaxy Note is using the Verizon network in the United States, you may have to use special forwarding numbers to forward your calls. You can first try the steps in the Android list to see whether they work. If they don’t, the Verizon forwarding numbers.
|To Do This||Dial This||And Then This|
|Forward unanswered incoming calls||*71||Forwarding number|
|Forward all incoming calls||*72||Forwarding number|
|Cancel call forwarding||*73||None|
As an example, to forward all calls to (714) 555-4565, you type *727145554565 as the phone number. Touch the green Phone icon to forward your calls; you hear only a brief tone after dialing, and then the call ends. After that, any call coming into your phone rings at the other number.
You must disable call forwarding to return to normal cell phone operations: Dial *73.
