Adding a Security App to Your HTC One (M8)

By Bill Hughes

Your employer might ask you to BYOD (bring your own device). Adding a security app to your HTC One (M8) — in this case, NQ Mobile — helps make your smartphone even safer. Some security apps are free, but paying a few dollars a month for upgraded service isn’t a bad idea.

  1. From your Home screen (shown in the following figure), tap the Play Store icon.

  3. Tap the magnifying glass icon in the upper right.

You can type the words NQ Mobile, or you can tap the microphone and say the words. This brings up the screen shown in the following figure.

  4. Tap NQ Mobile Security & Antivirus.

This brings up the app page shown in the following figure.

  5. Tap Install and then tap Accept (as shown in the figure).

After it’s installed, you see the app page. The permission includes a notice that this app can, at your command, erase everything. This is what you’ll want to do if your phone falls into the hands of your archenemy. Think about this carefully and recognize the implications before you act.
