How to Customize the Carousel on Your Amazon Fire Phone
App icons appear on the Home screen’s Carousel as you use the app on your Fire phone. More recent apps appear on the left, and you can swipe the screen right-to-left to view apps you used a while back. App icons eventually drop off the list. Though you can’t control how the apps are presented, you can add and remove app icons from the Carousel to customize the Home screen:
Unlike with other phones, you cannot change the Home screen background, or wallpaper, on the Fire phone. This feature might be added at a future date.
You can change the image that appears on the lock screen.
The widgets that appear below apps on the Carousel depend on what you’ve done with the app. You cannot manually add or remove app widgets.
Sticking an app on the Carousel
To keep an app affixed to the Carousel, long-press its icon. Choose Pin to Front from the menu.
Pinned icons appear on the far left end of the Carousel, always showing up first when you view the Home screen. They appear in the order you pin them, most recently pinned first.
When you start other apps, they appear to the right of the pinned apps on the Carousel. Also, when you visit the Home screen, you see the first unpinned app; pinned apps appear to the left of that app:
If you want an app to appear on the far left end of the Carousel, or “up front,” long-press its icon and choose the command Move to Front.
To unpin an app, long-press its icon and choose the command Unpin from Carousel. The app vanishes, although you can still find it (and start it) from the App Grid.
Removing an app from the Carousel
An app appears on the Carousel whenever you open that app. If you don’t want that app on the Carousel, long-press its icon and choose the command Remove from Carousel. The app is gone.
Removing an app from the Carousel doesn’t prevent it from appearing again the next time you start that app. It simply removes it from the Carousel until the next time you start the app.
To remove a pinned app, first unpin it. Then remove the app.
