By Barbara Obermeier, Ted Padova

Part of Photoshop Elements 11 All-in-One For Dummies Cheat Sheet

Photoshop Elements 11 Photo Editor tools (see the following figure) appear differently than earlier versions of Elements. Tools within tool groups are now available in the Tool Options panel at the bottom of the Photo Editor Window. Likewise, the Options Bar has disappeared in Elements 11. You find all the tool options now neatly arranged at the bottom of the Photo Editor window.

  1. Click a tool in the Tools panel.

At the bottom of the Photo Editor window, you see a new Tool Options panel. When you click a tool, the Photo Bin changes to the Tool Options panel.

  2. Click a tool from among the tool set selected in the Tools panel.

For example, if you click the Lasso tool, you can choose the Magnetic Lasso or Polygon Lasso in the Tool Options panel.

  3. Choose options for a tool.

The former Options bar in earlier versions of Elements has been replaced by options appearing in the Tool Options panel. Make choices for options in the panel.

  4. To return to the Photo Bin, click the Photo Bin button in the lower left corner of the Photo Editor window.
