Using the iWork Suite: Pages, Numbers, and Keynote
The iWork suite of apps is available as a free download for your iPad mini with Retina Display. Knowing how to create, edit, and share documents with iWork suite for iOS (and Macs) is easy. The file format makes documents the same across Macintosh, iOS, and iCloud.
iWork has apps (like Pages and Keynote) and tools (like the Numbers spreadsheet) for making documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. The Pages and Keynote apps let you open and edit documents created by Microsoft Office apps.
Pages is a full-featured, competent word-processing and page layout app. Start with a blank page or choose a template including report, letter, resume, or poster. Or, import Microsoft Word and plain text files to iWork Pages to edit them. Use advanced writing features such as change tracking, commenting, and highlighting, all of which make Pages useful for collaboration. If you do much writing or text editing on your iPad, get a Bluetooth keyboard.
Add photos or videos from the Photos app.
If you want, wrap text around images and create a table or chart.
Choose the right file format for the recipient.
Share your document via AirDrop, Mail, Messages, iTunes, or WebDAV server.
Use the Numbers spreadsheet on iOS devices and Macs. Start with a Microsoft Excel or CSV file, a blank page, or from 30+ templates. You can create invoices, checklists, budgets, or retirement savings plans.
Start with a blank canvas rather than a grid of cells.
Place tables, charts, photos, text, and images.
Tap an image or graph to see formatting options.
Double-tap a cell to add text, formulas, functions, dates, or times.
Keynote creates slide show presentations. Version 2.0 for iOS has cinematic animations and special effects, interactive charts (scatter and bubble, for instance), and easy ways to share your presentations via Mail, Messages, Twitter, Facebook or iCloud.
At any time, tap the question mark (?) on the upper right for coaching tips. Tap the Undo button at the upper left to undo a mistake.
Tap Create a Presentation at the bottom-right corner of the screen.
Choose a theme.
To add a slide, tap the + that's inside a square on the bottom-left corner.
The new page will be the same style as the rest of the pages.
Tap the + on the upper right to add pictures, add charts (2D, 3D, or interactive), edit text, or add symbols.
You can use pictures from your Camera Roll or other photo albums.
Tap the wrench icon to add transitions and builds, presenter notes, or presentation tools.
You can make other settings adjustments here, too. Presentation tools include interactive links, soundtrack, presentation type, and remote control.
