Using or Disabling Your Digital Camera’s Instant Review Feature

Your digital camera may have an instant review feature. After you take a picture, your camera displays that picture automatically on the LCD screen for a few seconds, letting you immediately review how that picture looks, like in this figure.

If the picture isn’t any good, you can simply delete it. And because you’re no longer wasting film, you can experiment freely with different camera settings and photo techniques.

Instant, on-camera review of your pictures also gives you added peace of mind when you’re photographing one-time events, such as an anniversary party or business conference. You know right away whether you got that perfect shot.

But you may want to turn this function off when you’re trying to capture fast-paced subjects because the camera won’t take another picture until the review period has passed. And because monitors consume power, turn off instant review if you’re worried about running out of battery juice. You can usually find your camera’s instant review feature settings in the main menu.
