Use Formulas to Enter Data in the TI-83 Plus
You can use the TI-83 Plus graphing calculator to enter data with formulas. The figure illustrates how you would place the sequence 10, 20, . . ., 200 in list L1. The formula used in this example is simply x. The initial and terminal values of x are naturally 10 and 200, respectively. And, as you may guess, x is incremented by 10.
To use a formula to define your data:
If necessary, press [STAT][1] to enter the Stat List editor.
Use the
keys to place the cursor on the column heading where you want your data to appear and press [ENTER].
Press
to access the seq command.
Enter your formula as a function of a single variable, press [.], and then enter the name of the variable and press [.].
Here the formula is x and the variable is x.
Enter the initial value of your variable, press [.], enter the terminal value of your variable, press [.], enter the increment for the variable, and then press [ ) ].
Press [ENTER] to enter your data in the calculator.
