Upload Your Pictures Using eBay’s Picture Services

After you take pictures of merchandise that you want to sell on eBay, you need to get those pictures into your listing. You can easily upload these images by using eBay’s Picture Services program. If you're using Microsoft’s Internet Explorer browser (the only one supported now), follow these steps:

1

Start creating your listing.

When you create a listing for an item you are selling, and you reach the part of the Sell an Item form that allows you to add pictures, the screen may look like this.

2

Scroll down and click the Add or Remove Options link.

Clicking the Add or Remove Options link causes a window to pop up.

3

Click the box next to Show eBay Enhanced Picture Services Options.

You can also click the Host Pictures on Your Server Instead of eBay Servers option if you want to use that in the future.

4

Click Save.

The Enhanced Picture Services screen appears.

5

Click the Add Pictures button.

A window pops up, prompting you to open an image file on your computer.

6

Navigate to the directory that holds your eBay images on your computer and select the image in the browsing window.

The image name appears in the filename box.

7

Click the Open box.

The selected image appears in the picture frame.

8

Rotate the image if needed.

Click the circular arrow (at the upper right of the main image box).

9

Crop the image as needed.

Click the crop box in the right corner of the larger image. Two squares appear at opposite corners of your main image. Click the frame on the outside of your image, and move the bar until the unwanted area is cropped out.

10

When you’re finished, click Continue.

A pop-up window notifies you that your picture is being uploaded to eBay’s picture server.

If you accidentally select the wrong picture, click the X in the lower-left corner to make the picture disappear so you can select a different one.

Sometimes Picture Services will shrink your image to a too-small size, but you can’t do much about it. Just be sure to reload the image any time you relist the item; otherwise, the gallery image may just get smaller and smaller. eBay continues to improve Picture Services, so don’t give up on it. Use it for the free image, and be sure to upload secondary images from an outside site.
