Ten Practice Questions for Data Handling Tests

Dawn records the heights of her prize sunflowers in the tally chart shown. Which group is the modal group?

A: 60-80cm

B: 80-100cm

C: 100-120cm

D: The data has no mode.

Answer: C: 100-120cm. The modal group is the one containing the biggest number of sunflowers.

When you’re working with a tally chart, it’s usually easier to work with numbers than with tally marks. Count up the tallies (each cluster is worth 5) and write them down next to the group so you can refer to them.
