variance: Official permission to bypass regulations, usually in regards to zoning laws.

venture capital: Funds invested or available for investment at considerable risk of loss in potentially highly profitable enterprises.

viral: A form of marketing that creates entertaining or informative messages that are designed to be passed along by "wor of mouth," often electronically.

vision statement: A written definition of your business's long-term aspirations.
