Share Education Videos with the Showyou iPad App

Teachers can share education videos using Showyou for iPad. Multimedia is an important classroom learning tool, so educators need a simple video archiving app to collect and share videos with students and fellow teachers.

That's the singular objective of the Showyou app for iPad. Unlike other social sharing services that accommodate a variety of media, the Showyou app does one thing only — and it does it with style. Showyou is a "social video" app that allows you to browse through all the different videos your friends have shared on social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, and more.

Showyou presents a grid of some of the most popular videos referenced by Showyou members on their social networking sites. If you slide the grid to the right with your finger, you'll see that the content is categorized by subject matter.

Tap any topic in the left menus, and Showyou presents the videos in that category. Tap any video in the grid, and it opens and plays. Nice, but Showyou can do so much more.

After you download Showyou from the App Store, you can create a profile that enables you to make connections, find friends, and search for shared videos. Just follow these steps:

  1. Tap the Showyou icon on your iPad home screen to start the app.

  2. Tap the smiley-face icon on the bottom-right to create a profile directly with Showyou.

You can also sign in with your Twitter or Facebook account.

Once you have signed in, you can start connecting with your friends and colleagues.

  3. Edit your profile by tapping the Edit button at the top-left of the display under your user name.

You'll land on the Settings page.

  4. If you already have accounts with social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Tumblr, or Vimeo, tap the Connections option, and turn on the connection to those services.

As you turn on any of the options, Showyou will ask you to sign in to that service and verify that you're allowing it to connect.

Now that you have given Showyou access to your accounts, it can look at your connections and suggest some of your friends who are using Showyou.

  5. Tap the Find Friends menu option in Settings, and you'll get a list of friends whom you can follow.

  6. Tap the Follow button next to any name, and the videos they share through Showyou will show up on your video grid.

It's as though you are creating your own social networking video channel.

  7. Search for videos shared on Showyou by entering a term in the Search field.

One powerful way to search is to search by theme. For example, hashtags are used on Twitter to group posts by theme. Try using a hashtag in your Showyou search.

So, for example, if you search for #ipaded, the results show all the videos on Showyou that were referenced in Twitter using that hashtag. It's a very powerful way to get a video-based overview of any topic that has been discussed on Twitter.
