Reflect Geometric Objects with the TI-84 Plus
When a geometric object is reflected in a line, that line acts like a mirror — hence the term reflection — so the mirror image of the original object appears on the other side of the line. GeoMaster on the TI-84 Plus allows objects to be reflected in a line, segment, ray, or vector.
To reflect an already constructed geometric object, follow these steps:
Construct the line of reflection.
The line of reflection may be a line, segment, ray, or vector. The first image shows that the already constructed hexagon is to be reflected in a vector.
Press [GRAPH][TRACE] to select the Reflection tool from the TRFM menu.
Use the arrow keys to move the cursor to the object you want to reflect and press [ENTER].
GeoMaster can reflect only one object at a time. The object to be reflected appears as a dashed figure. This is illustrated in the second image, where the pentagon is the object to be reflected.
Use the arrow keys to move the cursor to the line of reflection and press [ENTER].
The reflection of the original object appears along with the original object.
The Reflection tool remains active until you deactivate it. So if you want to reflect another object, repeat Steps 3 and 4. When you are finished using the tool, deactivate it by pressing [CLEAR] or by selecting another menu item.
After reflecting objects, if you move the line of reflection, the reflected objects will move to the location defined by the line of reflection. If you delete the line, the reflected object is also deleted.
