If you’ve truly fallen in love with QR Codes, here is some good news for you: You can take them with you.

You see, the growth of QR Codes in the tombstone business is anything but dead. Headstone companies are giving their customers an afterlife with QR Codes on tombstones that link to everything from pictures to videos to audio messages from the recently deceased. Kind of creepy, huh?

For a small fee, companies such as Seattle-based Living Headstones will affix a QR Code to a new or existing headstone and link it to a personalized web page . . . forever. You can even password-protect it so that only families and friends can access it.

Of course, you can make your own QR Code and link it to anything you want. Just make sure you put it on something durable so that it will withstand the elements and the test of time.

Lastly, remember that like most things, QR Codes won’t be around forever. They’ll eventually be replaced by something else. You can prepare for the inevitable by using QR Codes that can be easily removed and replaced on headstones with new technology as times change. The only thing that should be a permanent part of a headstone is what’s under it!
