Present Educational PowerPoint Presentations using SlideShark iPad App

Teachers who prefer to create their educational presentations with PowerPoint can present them on an iPad using the SlideShark app when needed. Use SlideShark iPad app and web service when you need to present PowerPoint presentations as closely as possible to their original versions.

Use SlideShark iPad App to display PowerPoint presentations

SlideShark allows you to upload your PowerPoint file to a web-based account and then use the SlideShark app to present it on your iPad. Here’s how it works:

  1. Go to the App Store, and download the SlideShark app on your iPad.

  2. To sign up for the SlideShark web service, tap the Register button on the opening screen of the SlideShark app and sign up for a free account.

You can sign up for an account at the SlideShark website.

  3. Upload your presentations.

Tap the Upload button on your account page to upload your PowerPoint presentations to the SlideShark website. You can upload up to 100MB of files to your account.

Note that the newest releases of SlideShark now link to cloud services so you can retrieve PowerPoint presentations from your accounts at Box.net and Dropbox.

  4. To download and show your presentation, open the SlideShark app and sign in to your account.

  5. Download any presentation.

SlideShark does a fairly good job of preserving PowerPoint’s animations, fonts, graphics, and colors.

The newest release of SlideShark plays videos embedded on PowerPoint slides and also displays slide annotations.

  6. To show your presentation on your iPad as a PowerPoint file, tap or swipe up in the SlideShark viewer to progress through slides and animations; swipe left to go back.

One additional nifty feature is that when you swipe up, you get a thumbnail of each slide in your presentation and can jump to any slide or sort and change the order of slides. You can even set it to loop and autoplay while you go out for lunch.

Setup an iPhone/iPod as a SlideShark iPad app remote control

SlideShark recently introduced a wonderful new feature for those of you who have an iPhone or iPod as well as an iPad. You can use your iPhone/iPod as a remote control device to manipulate the presentation on your iPad. Here's how:

  1. Tap the Remote Control icon on the left menu bar.

You’re given a PIN code for remote control.

  2. If you don’t already have it, download the free SlideShark app on your iPhone/iPod.

  3. Tap to select the Remote Control option in the menus and enter your PIN number.

  4. Swipe left or right on your iPhone/iPod to move forward and back and swipe upward to reveal all slides and jump to a particular one.

Make sure you have Bluetooth turned on in Settings for both devices.
