Powering Your iPod while Traveling Abroad
When you travel to foreign lands, you won’t always find the same power voltage as that in your home country. Fortunately, power adapters that work with your iPod are available in most airports, but the worldly traveler might consider getting a travel kit of power accessories for iPods and other small electronics. Apple makes an adapter kit that works with your iBook, PowerBook, MacBook, or iPod (except for the iPod Shuffle). Other retailers sell similar kits.
Most power kits include a set of AC plugs with prongs that fit different electrical outlets around the world. You can connect your iPod power adapter to these adapters. The AC plugs typically support outlets in North America, Japan, China, the United Kingdom, Continental Europe, Korea, Australia, and Hong Kong. You should also include at least one power accessory for use with a standard car lighter, such as car chargers from Belkin, Kensington, or Newer Technology.
One way to mitigate the battery blues is to get an accessory that lets you use replaceable alkaline batteries — the kind that you can find in any convenience store. The TunePower Rechargeable Battery Pack for iPod from Belkin lets you power your iPod with standard AA alkaline replaceable batteries even when your internal iPod battery is drained.
