Posting Photos or Videos on a Facebook Group Wall

Posting a photo or video to the Group Wall is the same as posting to your own Wall or to a friend’s Wall. Clicking what you want to share (Post, Photo/Video, or Question) and then following the onscreen prompts is all you have to do to put your content out there.

The important thing to remember is that when you share something from a Group, you're sharing it only with the members of that Group.

If you’re a member of a Group, you need to remember that you might not be friends with everyone in the Group. In a big Group, you might actually be sharing with more people who couldn’t typically see the things you post.

Although the Publisher works almost the same way across Facebook, all the options are briefly explained here in the context of Groups:

  1. Click Photo/Video in the Publisher (at the top of the Group page).

    The Photo Publisher appears.

  2. Click Use Webcam (only if you have a webcam).

  3. Pose for the camera.

    Remember to smile.

  4. (Optional) Add a comment about the photo in the Say Something box.

  5. Click Post.

The post appears on the Group Wall, and all members (depending on notification settings) are notified about your post. They can then comment and be part of what you are sharing.

Similar to photos, sometimes videos are simply meant to be shared. Maybe you have a video from your most recent Ultimate Frisbee game or from a family trip. This is a great way to share it just with family members and to be certain they are able to see it. To post a video, follow these steps:

  1. Click Photo/Video in the Publisher at the top of the Group Wall.

  2. Select either Use Webcam (only if you have a webcam) or Upload Photo/Video.

For this example, say you want to upload a video you recorded at another time. Clicking Upload Photo/Video expands the Publisher.

  3. Click Browse.

A dialog box appears that allows you to select a file from your computer.

  4. Navigate to the video you want and click Select.

  5. (Optional) Type some thoughts into the box above the Browse button.

You might want to explain why you thought the video would be of interest to your fellow members. Or you can say nothing and let the video speak for itself.

  6. Click Post.

The video then appears on the Group Wall and in members’ notifications and News Feeds.
