Peeling Hard-Cooked Eggs

Peeling hard-cooked eggs can be super simple or super frustrating. The easiest hard-boiled eggs to peel are ones that were in the fridge for a while. The fresher the egg, the more difficult it is to peel. Running cold water over the eggs while you peel can help separate the egg white from the shell slightly, making peeling easier.

1

As soon as your hard-cooked egg is cool enough to handle, tap it gently on a table or countertop.

You want to crackle the shell all over.

You can store hard-cooked eggs in their shells in the fridge for about a week, so you don’t have to use them right after you cook them.

2

Roll the egg between your hands.

This helps loosen the shell.

3

Peel off the shell, starting at the large end of the egg.

The shell may come off in big chunks or a million little pieces, depending on how thoroughly you cracked it.
