Peeling and Coring an Apple

To make many kinds of desserts that include apples, you need to prepare the apples before using them in the recipe. Peeling the skin off an apple and removing its core is simple:

1

Quarter the apples.

Cut the apple in half from top to bottom, then cut each half from top to bottom again.

2

Peel the skin with a paring knife.

Be careful not to cut yourself.

3

Cut out the core.

Remove the core without taking too much of the apple itself by using a sort of modified v-shaped cut.

4

Slice the apple quarters into strips along their length.

Decide how thick you want your slices to be.

5

If you want smaller pieces of apple, cut the strips at a 90-degree angle.

This technique creates small chunks of apple.
