yarn: Any fiber, such as wool or nylon, spun into strands for knitting or crocheting.

yarn hand: The hand that's feeding the yarn from the ball or skein. In crochet, the hand not holding the hook.

yarn over; yo: 1. A knitting method of making an extra stitch on your needle and creating a deliberate little hole in your fabric, as in lace. 2. The most basic step to every crochet stitch, in which you wrap the yarn over your crochet hook
