Keyboard Shortcuts to Use in Word 2007 Outline View

Word 2007 offers several shortcut keys that you can use in Outline view. You can use the shortcut keys to demote and promote topics, move topics around, hide and display them, and more.

Key Combo What It Does
Alt+Shift+Right arrow Demotes a topic
Alt+Shift+Left arrow Promotes a topic
Alt+Shift+Up arrow Shifts a topic up one line
Alt+Shift+Down arrow Shifts a topic down one line
Ctrl+Shift+N Inserts or demotes to body text
Alt+Shift+1 Displays only top topics
Alt+Shift+2 Displays first- and second-level topics
Alt+Shift+# Displays all topics up to number #
Alt+Shift+A Displays all topics
Alt+Shift+plus (+) Displays all subtopics in the current topic
Alt+Shift+minus (–) Hides all subtopics in the current topic
