How to Use Facebook on the Nexus 7 Tablet
Of all the social networking sites, Facebook is the king. Though you can use your Nexus 7 tablet to access Facebook on the web by using the Chrome app, it’s much easier to use the Facebook app. You can download the app from the Google Play store.
How to get the Facebook app for Nexus 7
The Nexus 7 doesn’t come with a Facebook app, but you can get the Facebook app free from the Google Play Store. The app is your red carpet to the Facebook social networking kingdom.
The official name of the app is Facebook. It’s produced by the Facebook organization itself. You can search for and install this app from the Google Play Store.
How to use Facebook on your Nexus 7
The first time you behold the Facebook app, you’ll probably be asked to sign in. Do so: Type the e-mail address you used to sign up for Facebook and then type your Facebook password. Touch the Log In button or the Done button on the onscreen keyboard.
Eventually, you see the Facebook News Feed.
When you’re done using Facebook, touch the Home icon to return to the Home screen.
The Facebook app continues to run until you either sign out or turn off the Nexus 7. To sign out of Facebook, touch the App icon (in the upper-left corner of the screen), scroll to the bottom of the sidebar, and choose the Log Out command.
How to set your Facebook status from the Nexus 7 tablet
The primary thing you live for on Facebook, besides having more friends than anyone else, is to update your status. It’s the best way to share your thoughts with the universe, far cheaper than skywriting and far less offensive than a robocall.
To set your status on the Nexus 7, follow these steps in the Facebook app:
Touch the Status button at the top of the screen.
You see the Update Status screen, where you can type your musing.
Type something pithy, newsworthy, or typical of the stuff you read in Facebook.
Touch the Post button.
You can also set your status by using the Facebook widget on the Home screen if it’s been installed: Touch the What’s on Your Mind text box, type your important news tidbit, and touch the Share button.
How to upload a picture to Facebook from your Nexus 7 tablet
One popular thing to do on Facebook is upload pictures of events and places. With your Nexus 7, you can upload pictures as you snap them or use pictures previously taken and stored in the tablet’s Gallery app.
The picture posting process starts when you touch the Photo button in the Facebook app. Or you can use the Upload Photo button found on the status update screen. After touching the Upload Photo button, you have two choices:
If you elect to use the camera to take a picture, you find yourself thrust into Facebook’s Camera mode. This is not the same app as the Camera app.
Use the onscreen controls to take your picture. Or you can shoot a quick video. When you’re done, touch the Gallery icon.
To proceed with uploading your image, follow these steps:
Touch an image in the gallery to select it.
Tap the image to (optionally) add a tag.
You can touch someone’s face in the picture and then type the person’s name. Choose from a list of your Facebook friends to apply a name tag to the image.
Use the rotate button to reorient the image, if necessary.
Touch the Compose icon.
Add a message to the image.
At this point, posting the image works just like adding a status update.
Touch the Post icon.
The image is posted as soon as it’s transferred over the Internet and digested by Facebook.
The image can be found as part of your status update or News Feed, but it’s also saved to Facebook’s Mobile Uploads album.
