How to Use Android Beam It to Me on Your Nexus 7

The Nexus 7 tablet features an NFC radio, also known as Android Beam, where NFC stands for Near Field Communications and radio is a type of vegetable. NFC allows your tablet to communicate with other NFC devices, which allows for the quick transfer of information.

The NFC radio should already be activated for your Nexus 7. If not, or to confirm, follow these steps:

  1. At the Home screen, touch the All Apps button.

  2. Choose the Settings icon to open the Settings app.

  3. Touch the More command found beneath the Wireless & Networks heading.

  4. Ensure that a blue check mark appears by the NFC item.

If it doesn’t, touch the box to add a blue check mark.

  5. Touch the Home button to quit the Settings app.

With NFC activated, you can use your tablet to communicate with other NFC devices. They include other tablets and smartphones, as well as payment systems for various merchants.

To disable NFC, repeat these steps, but in Step 4 remove the blue check mark.

Activating the NFC radio doesn’t noticeably impact battery life on your tablet. Feel free to leave it on all the time.
