9 of 10 in Series: The Essentials of Preparing and Uploading Your eBay Images

If you upload your eBay images to AOL, you’ll notice that AOL handles image uploads a bit differently from other ISPs. Many people love AOL because it provides an easy, step-by-step interface. As you probably imagine, uploading pictures is handled in that same AOL style.

To upload pictures to AOL, follow these steps:

  1. Sign on to your AOL account.

  2. Display the FTP area of AOL.

Search keywords for ftp-click go by typing it in the text line. On the next page, click members ftp space. Then double-click members.aol.com.

  3. Click See My FTP Space.

You’re sent to your AOL storage area.

  4. Click Upload.

A screen appears so you can name the file you want to upload, called the remote file.

  5. In the Remote Filename box, enter a name for your picture.

Your file will whiz through the wires to the server at AOL.

You can now double-check that your file arrived safely by typing its URL (http://members.aol.com/yourscreenname/picturename.jpg) in your browser and pressing Enter.

To insert the image into your listing, you use the URL and some html tags, like this: <img src=http://members.aol.com/[yourscreenname]/[picturename.jpg]>.
