How to Upload Video to Facebook

Uploading a video to Facebook includes going out into the world, recording something, and then moving it from your camera onto your computer. If you’ve already done that part and are now back to being sedentary in front of your computer, it’s time to upload that video to Facebook:

1

Choose Add Photo/Video in the Publisher.

This opens the Video Publisher.

2

Click Upload Photo or Video.

This expands the Publisher to reveal a Choose File or Browse button.

3

Click the Browse or Choose File button.

This opens a window to explore and navigate your computer’s hard drive.

4

Select a video file from your computer.

This brings you back to Facebook, where now there should be a filename of some sort next to the Choose File button.

5

(Optional) Type any explanation or comment into the Say Something About This Video box.

If your browser blocks pop-up windows, you may have some trouble with uploading videos to Facebook. Add Facebook to the exceptions for your pop-up blocker (from your browser options) to make your life a little easier.

6

(Optional) Select who can see this video using the Privacy drop-down menu.

Your basic options are Everyone, Friends of Friends, Only Friends, or a Customized group of people.

7

Click Post.

Facebook opens a new browser window where your video upload can be tracked. Because video uploads can sometimes take a while, you can go back to Facebook and browse around there or go to another website without fear of interrupting your upload.

After your Video has finished uploading, the upload window displays a yellow notice letting you know that it’s done. From there, you can click the Close and Edit Video button to move on to editing and go back to your original browser window.
