How to Turn Off the Nexus 7
There are two ways to say goodbye to your Nexus 7. One option involves turning off your tablet. The other, more common option is to use the lock out function. The main difference is that your tablet will still function while in lock out mode, but won’t use the same amount of power. However, as we all know, there are definitely times to unplug.
If you decide it’s indeed time to unplug, follow these steps:
Press and hold the Power Lock button.
You see the Device Options menu.
If you chicken out and don’t want to turn off the Nexus 7, touch the Back icon button to dismiss the Device Options menu. This will cancel the turn off process.
Touch the Power Off item.
The Nexus 7 turns itself off.
The tablet doesn’t run when it’s off, so it doesn’t remind you of appointments, collect e-mail, or let you hear any alarms you’ve set. Neither is the Nexus 7 angry with you for turning it off, though you may sense some resentment when you turn it on again.
Be sure to keep the Nexus in a safe place while it’s turned off.
