How to Track eBay Auctions You've Won and Lost

The All Buying page is the hub for keeping track of your winning bids on eBay, as well as any items you didn’t win. To find out how you did, you can simply click a link to view summaries of your bidding results.

Clicking the Won link

Clicking the Won link in the Buy area in the My eBay Views box displays all the items you’ve won in the last 60 days. The default is 31 days, which should suffice for most transactions. The Won page is a great place to keep track of items that you’re waiting to receive from the seller. It’s also a convenient way to keep track of your expenditures, should you be buying for resale.

If you don't see pictures next to your items, just click Customize in the upper-right corner and make them appear.

Helpful features on the Won page include the following:

  • Seller’s user ID: This link sends you to the seller’s Member Profile (feedback) page, where you can send an e-mail to the seller.

  • Listing title: A link to the listing. You can use this when an item arrives so that you can be sure that the item you received is exactly as advertised.

  • Item number: The item number for your records.

  • Item sale date: A convenient way to see whether your item is slow in shipping. After a week, it doesn’t hurt to drop the seller an e-mail to check on the shipping status.

  • Sale price and quantity: Helps you keep track of the money you’ve spent.

  • Take Action drop-down menu: This area displays a drop-down list where you can pick different commands based on the status of your transaction. You can choose to pay for the item through PayPal, view the payment status on paid items, mark the item paid if you paid through other payment methods, or leave feedback after you’ve received the item and are satisfied that it’s what you ordered.

  • Icons: Each item’s listing has three icons that appear dimmed until the selected action is taken. A dollar sign indicates whether you’ve paid for the item, a star indicates that you’ve left feedback, and an envelope indicates whether feedback has been left for you.

Clicking the Didn’t Win link

Sniff . . . the Didn’t Win area is a very sad place. This My eBay section lets you know when you’ve been outbid and lost an item. This option isn’t there to rub your nose in all the auctions you’ve lost — it’s a handy tool that lets you search the seller’s other items for something similar, or search the category for a similar item.
