How to Test Your Website Template on Squarespace
When adjusting styles on Squarespace, you should test your site on different devices such as an iPhone, an Android phone, an iPad, and a Kindle Fire or other tablet, particularly if you add your own custom CSS code.
Squarespace templates are designed to work on mobile devices, so you won’t be testing to see whether your site is working. Instead, you may find that some adjustments you made in Style Editor, or custom CSS you added, have undesirable results you don’t prefer on mobile devices.
As professional web designers will attest, designing a website to work on multiple devices with varying screen sizes is not easy. Designing a template with customizable features for thousands of customers to use, as Squarespace has done, and making that template successfully work at different screen sizes, is even harder work. Some settings and features need to be generalized to work for the widest possible customer base.
To test your site, and any template changes you made in Style Editor, do the following:
Open your device’s web browser.
If you have more than one device, check your website on all of them, particularly if you have an Apple device and another manufacturer’s device such as an Android-powered tablet or phone.
Type your website’s URL in your browser’s URL field.
You can check your site with your Squarespace URL (http://youraccount.squarespace.com) or a custom domain (http://www.yourdomain.com) if you've mapped one to your account.
If you're still using a trial account, viewing your website without logging into your site will display the Squarespace Trial warning. This warning will state that your site is not yet visible to the public. You will need to enter an access code to view the site on your mobile device.
Try entering your website as a visitor, not as the owner, because you will not be editing your site on your mobile device.
