How to Speed Dial on an Android Phone
Your Android phone is capable of a great many feats, all of which were once considered extras — expensive extras — for the standard telephone. With the dawn of the push-button phone, you could punch in numbers as fast as your fingers could dance. The fastest way to dial a number? Why, it’s speed dial.
Not every Android phone features speed dial. To see whether yours does, heed these steps:
At the Home screen, touch the Dialer app or Phone icon to reach the standard phone-dialing screen.
Ensure that you can see the dialpad on the screen. If necessary, touch the Dialer tab.
Press the Menu soft button.
If no menu pops up at the bottom of the screen, your phone has no speed dial feature.
Choose Speed Dial Setup.
Most carriers configure number 1 as the voice mail system’s number. The remaining numbers, 2 through 9, are available to program.
Touch a blank item in the list.
Choose a contact to speed-dial.
Repeat Steps 4 and 5 to add more speed dial contacts.
When you’re done adding numbers, press either the Back or Home button to exit the Speed Dial Setup screen.
Using speed dial is simple: Summon the phone dialer and then long-press a number on the dialpad. When you release your finger, the speed dial number is dialed.
