How to Sort and View Items on Your NOOK eReader

No matter what items you want to sort, view, and ultimately read on your NOOK eReader (Color or Simple Touch), the process is about the same.

How to sort and view books on your NOOK

When you go to your NOOK Library, you'll see two options you can set for sorting your books. The first is how you want to sort. Tap the box and select Most Recent, Title, or Author.

Your second option changes how your books appear on-screen. Then tap an option to adjust the way they’re organized:

  • Grid. Columns and rows of book covers and titles.

  • List.

    • On the NOOK Color, with titles, author names, and small images of the book covers. A more detailed option also adds short descriptions.

    • On the NOOK Simple Touch, with book titles and author names.

  • Shelves. On the NOOK Color, you can also view horizontal shelves of book covers, scrollable left and right.

How to sort and view magazines or newspapers

Magazines and periodicals have many of the same sorting options as books. Here are the choices for sorting periodicals:

  • Most Recent

  • Title

And then you can adjust the way they are presented:

  • Grid. Columns and rows of magazine covers or newspaper front pages.

  • List.

    • On the NOOK Color, with titles, magazine covers or newspaper front pages, publisher names, and publication dates. A more detailed option also adds short descriptions.

    • On the NOOK Simple Touch, with titles, publisher names, and publication dates.

  • Shelves. On the NOOK Color, you can also view horizontal shelves of magazine covers or newspaper front pages, scrollable left and right.
