How to Sign Up for Facebook Mobile

In many ways, using a mobile phone can augment your experience of using Facebook on the computer. You can easily add information to and get information from Facebook when you’re not physically in front of the computer. These features are primarily for people who do most of their Facebooking on the computer, but sometimes interact through their phone.

To get started with Facebook Mobile, you first need to enter and confirm your phone number into the settings page:

Choose Account Settings from the Account menu in the upper-right corner of the big blue bar on top.
Click the Mobile tab on the left side of the page.
Click the green Add a Phone button.

This opens the Activate Facebook Texts dialog box.
Choose your country and your mobile carrier.

If your carrier isn’t listed, sadly you may be out of luck for using Facebook from your mobile phone.
Click Next.

This brings you to Step 6, which you actually have to do from your phone.
From your phone, text the letter F to 32665 (FBOOK).

FBOOK texts you back a confirmation code. This can take a few minutes, so be patient.
Enter your confirmation code into the empty box.
Choose whether you want your phone number added to your Profile via the Add This Phone Number to My Profile check box.

If you’re not comfortable sharing your number, simply deselect the check box.
Click Next.

This confirms your phone and brings you to set up for Facebook Texts. Your phone also receives a confirmation text with some instructions.
